Episode 26: Paul: Light from Heaven
About the Life Connection Club
the life connection club kids Why did Jesus come? To make bad people good? To give us rules to live by? Or to give us forgiveness and offer us a new life-His forever life? Did you ever wonder how the first church was started?

When Jesus went back to heaven, He promised His disciples to send the Holy Spirit to live within them. Jesus' disciples would share the good news of His forgiveness and teach new believers to depend on Him. The Holy Spirit would give them power.

About ten days later, the Holy Spirit came into the believers, just as Jesus had promised. Those new believers were so excited, they told anyone who would listen about Jesus. Many trusted in Jesus, and that's how the first church began. Later, a man named Paul helped take the good news about Jesus to Europe.

Now, use your imagination, as we journey back through time to look at the Life Connection Story "Paul Part 1."

Story Paul
(Story adapted from the New Testament books written by the Apostle Paul, the Gospels, and specifically Acts 8:1-3; 9:1-25.)

My name is Paul. I am excited to share with you how God worked in my life.

When I first met Jesus, my name was Saul. I was one of the religious leaders called a Pharisee. I didn't understand that Jesus was God's Son, so I put His believers in jail and tried to destroy all of the Christians. I thought Jesus and His followers were trying to destroy God's name. I didn't realize that Jesus was the Messiah, the Promised One of God. The religious leaders even gave me permission to find and arrest believers in the city of Damascus. On my way to Damascus, a bright light from heaven flashed around me. When I fell to the ground, I heard a voice call my name, "Saul! Why are you doing things against Me?" It was Jesus. He told me to get up and go into the city. The light had blinded me! My friends had to lead me into Damascus.

At the same time, God spoke to a believer named Ananias who lived in Damascus. Ananias found me and explained that Jesus had sent him to help me. When he laid his hands on my eyes, something like fish scales fell from my eyes. I could see! I stayed in Damascus for a few days. Then I began to tell people about Jesus, the Son of God. Everyone was surprised because they knew I had spent most of my time trying to destroy the church. Now the Holy Spirit filled me with the desire to prove that Jesus is God's Son. The Jews in Damascus could not argue with me, so they plotted to kill me. Some friends helped me get out of town.

Jesus taught me His truth. I traveled around many cities and taught people the truth about Him. I got to watch churches start. I wrote letters to the churches and to my friends. Some of my letters are in the Bible-God's love letter to all people.

I loved to speak about Jesus and let Him live through me. God wants to make peace with all people. It's His gift. We need it, but we don't deserve it. When we reject Jesus we reject the life He wants to give us forever. Jesus is the only source of forever life. We deserve to die, but He offers us His life! We can accept His gift by trusting in Him. Then we will live forever with Him and have His life inside us. Amazing! God sent Jesus to show us what God's love is like. Jesus died in our place before we were friends with Him. God's love is incredible! Jesus made the way for us to be friends with God again, and not just friends. Children. Children of God. God gives us a new life through Jesus, His Son. People who trust in Jesus will live forever with Him and will have His life in them. People who don't trust in Jesus, won't live forever with Him, and they don't have His life in them.

Have you trusted in Jesus Christ and accepted God's forgiveness for your sins? Have you received new life in Christ and begun your journey with Him? If so, wonderful! You will learn more about that journey in the episodes that follow.

If not, you can know the Creator of the universe. Jesus Christ came to die to forgive our sins. Then He rose from death to new life. When we accept God's forgiveness, Jesus gives us a new life, His forever life. He wants to live through you and be your forever friend. He wants you to have His life, to share it with Him.

If you have never trusted in Jesus, then you can pray these words to Him:

Jesus, thank You for loving me. Thank You for dying and taking the blame for my sins. I accept Your forgiveness. I know that I can never be good enough on my own. Please come live inside me and through me. Please give me Your New Life.

Paul was persecuting (hurting) Christians when God shined the bright light. Jesus spoke to Paul. Paul stopped hurting Christians. Paul not only stopped hurting Christians, he became a Christian and spent the rest of his days on earth allowing Jesus to live His forever life in Paul.
